On Wednesday April 15 2015, the Hon. Tim Fischer AC along with other special guests officially opened the new exhibitions at John Flynn Place Museum and Art Gallery.

The newly installed interactive exhibit commemorates the Gallipoli heroes that helped launch outback aviation and the Flying Doctor Service. Featured in the new exhibition are many visionary Australians; including young pilot Clifford Peel who at age 23 wrote the famous blueprint letter to Reverend John Flynn that became the template for the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

The new exhibitions also included the “John Flynn Magic Lantern Slideshow” which recreates a typical slideshow given by John Flynn as part of his promotional work for the Australian Inland Mission and the Flying Doctor Service.

Also opened was the “Ernest Henry Outback Theatre” which shows six historic films about the Flying Doctor Service and Australian Inland Mission.

The openings were followed by a RFDS Benefit Dinner held at the Cloncurry Community Precinct.
